Study with lemongrass has shown that high oil yields can be obtained at lowest rainfall and highest temperature of the sampling periods. The highest oil yield of lemongrass was obtained at 270 days after cutting (DAC), with a height of 20 cm above ground level. Whereas highest dry matter yield followed the same pattern as that of the highest oil yield. Shortest harvest time and higher cutting height gave lower oil yields, although in some cases fresh and percentage dry matter yields were increased. Experiments on the effect of harvest time and cutting height on NPK contents of soil and lemongrass tissue showed that highest oil yield was obtained from plants grown on relatively lower soil NPK contents. However, lemongrass tissue with high percentage of oil has high N content compared to those lemongrass plants with lower oil yield
