The project was undertaken with the aim to study the prevalence and taxonomy of Eimeria species and their effect on total serum protein (TSP) values in different age groups of layers. Of 500 carcasses suspected for coccidiosis 287 (57.4% were found positive for the disease. Five species namely Eimeria tenella 93 (32.4%), E. acervulina 85 (29.62), E. necatrix 45 (15.68%), E. brunetti 39 (13.59%) and E. maxima 25 (8.71%) were identified respectively. The correlation between OPG and TSP was calculated and five farms out of 30 showed positive, while 8 farms showed negative correlation between the above referred values. Management practices such as inadequate space, improper biosecurity measures, less number of feeders and drinkers were the main factors for the .spread of coccidiosis in layer farms situated in and around Lahore.
