The studies on the effect of grain moisture on infestation of red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum (Herbst.) in three wheat varieties viz., TJ-83, Inqilab-91 and Pavon were conducted under laboratory conditions during May to December. The results showed that the maximum population of red flour beetle was recorded from 1st fortnight of August to 1st fortnight of October almost in all varieties. The overall mean/fortnight showed that TJ-83 variety recorded highest beetle population (243.02 beetles/fortnight) followed by Pavon (214.03 beetles/fortnight) and Inqilab-91 (158.27 beetles/fortnight), respectively. However, the overall grain moisture content/fortnight was higher in TJ-83 (11.52%), followed Pavon (11.44%) and Inqilab-91 (11.24%), respectively. The grain moisture content 10.77 and above was favourable for the multiplication of the pest. There was positive significant correlation between pest population and grain moisture content under laboratory temperature.
