[Nitrosamines in different tobacco and tobacco smoke products]

After the discover of the carcinogenicity of nitrosodimethylamine by Magee and Barnes in 1956 it has been established that the most part of this kind of compounds is highly carcinogenic. Trace amounts of nitrosamines have been detected in foodstuffs, biological fluids, vegetation, tobacco and tobacco smoke and other matters. Considering the importance of nitrosamines in the tobacco and tobacco smoke we review studies about the presence of these compounds in tobaccos for cigarettes, cigars, chewing and snuff tobaccos, mainstream and sidestream smoke and environmental smoke and we analyse the results
