[Content of some heavy metals in forest soils on permanent monitoring plots in Slovakia]

Results of the first complete survey of heavy metals contents in the soils of 111 permanent monitoring plots in Slovakia are presented. The paper focused at Pb, Cd, Cu, and Zn contents in organic layer, 0-10 cm and 10-20 cm layers of mineral soil. High contents were mostly found in localities near emission sources and in localities with geochemical anomalies. In some cases, especially in the northern and west-northern part of Slovakia, are rather high contents of Pb in organic layer, which can be explained as a result of long-range effect of air pollution
