Residual effects of various rates of NP-fertilizer applied in Pakchong soil for fifteen years on corn

Field plot experiment on a Reddish Brown Lateritic soil was conducted at the National Corn and Sorghum Research Center to examine residual effects of various rates of NP-fertilizer consecutively applied to Pakchong soil in annual cropping for 15 years on corn grown in the sixteenth year. The highest rates of fertilizer was 180-180 kg N-P2O5/ha/year. Results showed that grain yields, dry weight of shoot, amounts of N in grain, amount of N in shoot, and amounts of P in grain tended to increase with higher rates of NP-fertilizer applied in the past 15 years. In addition, amounts of P in shoot increased with higher rates of NP-fertilizer. These suggested that productivity of the soil was increased by higher rates of consecutive NP-fertilizer.
