Cultivar differences in post-anthesis growth and yield of four sesame cultivars (Sesamum indicum L.). CV-1 (Hnan Dun), CV-2 (Aceitera), CV-3 (Yori 77) and CV-4 (KU 18) grown under field conditions of Chiangmai at Field Station of Maejo University during the period of long daylength, high average day temperature, and good rainfall in 1994 and 1995. The results revealed that the cultivar Yori 77 produced the highest seed yield which was highly correlated with the number of capsules per plant. Higher total above ground dry weights, higher seed yields, and higher number of capsules per plant in all cultivars in the 1995 cropping may due to the longer sunshine duration and higher mean temperatures occurred throughout crop growth. The results suggest that cultivar Yori 77 should be recommended for commercial production in northern region of Thailand.
