A study of stomatal distribution and leaf characteristics in some citrus species and cultivars

In this research, width, length, and area of leaves were measured and the number of stomata per unit leaf area (mm2) were determined in different citrus species and cultivars. The relationship between the number of stomata per unit leaf area mm2) and cold resistance of Citrus species and cultivars were also investigated. The highest number of stomata was found lemon and mandarin cultivars susceptible to cold. Among the rootstocks, P. trifoliata, the hardiest species, had the lowest number of stomata. It was determined that negative correlation between the stomata number and the leaf width were significant statistically
