Mass rearing of American ballworm Heliothis armigera (Hubner) by using an artificial diet was developed for the production of NPV (Nuclear polyhedrosis virus). The product was tested to control the American ball worm both in the laboratory condition and in the vegetable field of the farmer in the various rates: 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 ml per 20 litre of water. An investigation revealed that in the laboratory condition the dosage 20 ml was significantly difference from 10 and 0 ml but between the rates 30, 40 and 50 ml were non-significant difference; in the field condition, the difference between all treatments were highly significant.
