Production, consumption, domestic and international trading of pomegranate have been increased in recent years in regard to developed cultivation methods and fruit qualities. Therefore, the objective of this study is to increase the quality and productivity of the cultivars by hybridization which were developed after the long term selections. Red rind, dark red aril and soft seedness were the main quality criteria of the study. There were three standard cultivars in the hybridization programme. These cultivars were self pollinated and crossed over each other, and 9 combinations were obtained. Studies on 4079 hybrids are still going on. Yield was obtained from 900 of them, and 47 hybrids were planted on evaluation plots right after propagation. Ten of the planted ones were sweet (HICRANNAR series and NAZNAR), 14 were sour-sweet (CANERNAR series, KASKANAR, OZTURKNAR and ESINNAR) and 5 were sour (ONURNAR series), but the rest are still unknown
