Intensity of Laminaria saccharina (L.) clasters at the depth of 0.5 - 14.0 m, content of mannite, chlorophyll a and dry matter in its tissues are examined. Maximum growth intensity was observed at the 3 m depth. When growing it at the depth of more than 5 m its quality deteriorates considerably. Tissues watering and increase in mannite content takes place. Chlorophyll a content is found to be proportional to the growing depth and the magnitude of specific surface (S/W) of Laminaria tissues. Dry matter content manifests direct dependance on the tissue's S/W and reversed one on the depth
