Determination of selenium (Se), lead (Pb), zinc (Zn) and cadmium (Cd) contents in meat of different fish species

Selenium (Se), lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) contents were determined in meat of five different fish species caught in the rivers in the vinicity of Banja Luka, The Republic of Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and five fish species raised in fish-farms using the AAS. After the dissection, half of the fish bodies was used for determination of selenium and lead, and other one for determination of content of zinc and cadmium. The seenium content ranged between 0.008 microgram/g and 0.146 microgram/g (on the raw mass of the sample), lead content ranged between 5 and 1.83 mg/kg of fish meat, and zinc content ranged between 5.80 mg/kg and 12.31 mg/kg.
