The paper presents a possibility of barley selection at low temperatures on the basis of offspring resistance in early generations of separation. To that end, tolerance in cross-breeding of genotypes having different resistance was tested in F3, F4, and F5 generation. Noteworthy values of regression coefficient have been determined with respect to resistance to low temperatures between selected plants of F3 generation and their respective offspring. Resistance of F3 generation is mostly at the level of the parent more sensitive to low temperatures. Great variations within a generation indicate a possibility of isolation of more resistant offspring than the generation average. Using the method of convergent cross-breeding, it is possible to develop genotypes as resistant as their more resistant parent or with somewhat higher level of resistance.
