Reproductive performance of sows with different weaning-to-estrus intervals

Data from farm reproductive evidence were used to study the postlactational estrus activity and influence the weaning-to-estrus interval on the fertility of sows in the subsequent reproductive cycle. Experimental results were used to determining the standing estrus duration and optimal timing of artificial insemination in sows with different weaning-to-estrus interval. The influence of the optimal timing of artificial insemination related with weaning-to-estrus interval duration, on the farrowing rate and litter size subsequent reproductive cycle, were also investigated. Obtained results clearly demonstrated the negative relations between weaning-to-estrus interval duration and fertility (farrowing rate and litter size) of sows subsequent reproductive cycle.
