Effect of different nitrogen levels on sorghum forage yield and yield components

Paper discussed the effect of different nitrogen levels in forage sorghum capacity on low calcareous chernozem soil type (60 kg of nitrogen per ha - control) for two years. The trial was carried out without irrigation. According to obtained data authors claim that weather conditions, especially rainfall sum and rainfall schedule have strong influence on forage sorghum growng. The highest forage yield has obtained with nitrogen variant 60+90=150 kg/ha (84.5 t/ha). With nitrogen level decrease under the 60+90=150 kg/ha the yield also decrease, while with increase level there is no changes in forage yield. The variety NS-Dzin gave higher forage yield (78.3 t/ha) than the variety Silosirak (74.0 t/ha). With higher nitrogen level there is a higher shoot number per plant, plant height and leaf contribution in total yield production and consequently highest forage yield and quality.
