Plant species as indicators of site conditions within the forests of sessile oak with Turkey oak at Djerdap area [Serbia, Yugoslavia]
2000
Krstic, M. (Univerzitet u Beogradu, Beograd (Yugoslavia). Sumarski fakultet)
The work analyzed ecological properties of plant species, occurring in the forest of sessile oak with Turkey oak: Festuco heterophylae - Quercetum petraeae-cerris and Orysopsio - Quercetum petraeae-cerris, at the Djerdap area (eastern Serbia, Yugoslavia), and representing a more xerothermic variety of sessile forests. They appear at lower altitudes (290-400 m), i.e., at transient site between the climatogenous forest of Hungarian oak, Turkey oak and xeromezophyle sessile oak forests, therefore, in floristic sense, they bear the property of this transient area. Differentiation of flora was done according to membership in certain ecological plant groups, according to most significant ecological factors: soil humidity, soil acidity, quantity of nitrogen in the soil, light and temperature, as well as classification according to life forms by Raunkiaer. Correlation between plants and life conditions has implied the possibility of utilizing ecological properties of plant species, as specific indicators of site conditions.
