How to reduce nitrogen use in forage crop production: A study on alfalfa - tall fescue mixture

This study was carried out to compare with the yield performance of mixtures of alfalfa with tall fescue fertilized at different doses. According to four year's average, dry matter yield, crude protein content of hay and nitrogen harvest of mixtures alternatively sown into 30 cm row spacing showed superior performance compared to the other stands. Hence, 1:1 sowing alfalfa alternatively with tall fescue is recommended for high hay production in the absence of nitrogen fertilizer utilization.
