During the years 1994 and 1995, the heterogeneity of passerine birds in the litoral vegetation of the Opatovicky pond (Trebon area, South Bohemia) was monitored. Birds were mist-netted at four places. The most numerous bird was the Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus) with 56.5 % of mist-netted birds in both years, in spite of different water levels. Nine species - Hirundo rustica, Riparia riparia, Parus caeruleus, Phylloscopus collybita, Acrocephalus schoenobaenus, Luscinia svecica, Emberiza schoeniclus, Acrocephalus palustris and Aegithalos caudatus - were observed in the amount of 1-11.1 %. Swallows and Sand Martins used the reeds overnight. Only one specimen of each of the following species was caught: Phylloscopus trochilus, Sturnus vulgaris, Troglodytes troglodytes, Remiz pendulinus and Erithacus rubecula.
