Water regime of extensively used grasslands as influenced by meteorological and soil conditions

By means of a lysimetric trial the components of water regime of extensive used grassland were investigated (sum of precipitations, evapotranspiration, soil moisture changes, outlet water from soil profile). The limiting factors of evapotranspiration (ETA) are: in a dry year the lack of water for evaporating, in a moist year the lack of sun radiation. Differences in the rate of transpiration between plant species manifestate more in a moist year, the differences in the soil moisture values show themselves more in a dry year. Important amount of rain water was infiltrating into the soil profile only in a moist year. The soil representative (type) influences the soil water regime depending of the water quantity. The influence of mulching on decreasing the ETA was not proved.
