The aim of the present research was to determine the relationship between the live body weight, trunk length (measured before slaughtering) and pelt size (dried pelts measured after slaughtering) in 134 silver foxes. Coefficients of correlation between the studied variables were calculated and multiple regression formulas were derived to estimate the pelt size (trait Y) before slaughtering on the basis of body weight (trait X1) and trunk length (trait X2). The equations were calculated for males and females separately as there were significant differences between the two sexes. Such equations enable to breeders to determine the expected size of pelts before slaughtering and thus to better estimate their economic value.
