The effectiveness of inoculation of lettuce (Lactuca sativa, var. Jupiter), banana plants (Musa sp., var. Cavendish) and of apple-trees (Malus domestica, var. Jonagold) by preparation containing arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) was followed in pot experiments. Two preparations were tested: a) Vambac which is composed of AMF Glomus and Gigaspora and bacteria Agrobacterium radiobacter and b) Glomus mosseae Beg 25. The following parameters were estimated: the intensity of root's colonization (i.e. density of hyphae and presence of arbuscules and vesicles), the biomass and nutrient content of the above- and under-ground parts of plants (lettuce, banana-plants) and the ability of plants to overcome stress conditions (drought, high content of arsenic in the soil). Data were analyzed by Statgraphic ANOVA, P0.05. Inoculation of plants by AM fungi increased the colonization of roots in average four times, significantly increased the biomass of roots and content of N, P, K in the above-ground biomass (lettuce, banana plants), enhanced the resistance of plants to the drought (banana plants) and restricted the input of arsenic from the soil to the above-ground plant biomass.
