The indication of the imperfection of watertreatment and of the secondary impurity based on the ENDO number determination in drinking waters
2001
Nemedi, L.
The ENDO number gives the heterogenous bacteria-number in 100 ml analized water, while the psychrophilic and mesophilic bacteria-numbers refer only to 1 ml. So it is especially suitable for the bacteriological characterisation of "pure" drinking waters (drinking water for infants, bottled drinking water or other waters used for therapeutic purposes, ion-exchanged water, etc...). At the source-research of the bacteriological contamination the ENDO numbers can give very important information for the examination of the drinking-water system. The indication of the imperfection of watertreatment and of the secondary contamination is possible even in the cases when the result of the routine bacteriological analysis is negative. The colony-morphology indicates the different or identical bacteriological impurity (contamination) of the samples. The comparison of new watersupply objects with the already operating (control) pipe is possible even if the result of the routine bacteriological analysis is negative. In general: the increasing or negative value of the ENDO number indicates the undesirable antropogenous contamination of drinking waters. The use of the ENDO number is especially suitable to determine the source of the contamination. Based on the morphological "map" the microflora of the ground, the ground-water and the air can be separated
