Reactions of apple leave tissues on the two-spotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae Koch) feeding were investigated. The following apple cultivars were selected for the research: Close, Lobo (susceptible), Katja, Piros and Jester (more resistant to mites infestation). Cross sections of the leaves before and after mite feeding were analyzed. The study was carried out using a light microscope. Level of injury of particular leaf tissues in all examined cultivars was investigated. A comparative cytological examination of both, healthy and infested leaves was conducted in order to determine differences in the content of polyphenolic compounds. It was the base for the statement that apple cultivars are differentiated as far as susceptibility to mite feeding is concerned
