The importance of the natural food in different fish culture regimes
2000
Szito, A. (Fish Culture Research Institute, Szarvas (Hungary))
The quantity and the quality of the natural food were investigated in fish ponds, in a reservoit, in backwaters and in rice fields, as in semi-intensive farming systems. The biomass of the Oligochaete and Chironomids was the maximum May, 23.5 g m-2 in dry weight in the fish ponds with carp polyculture. This value was determined by the reproduction of the investigated animal groups and by the moderate appetite of fishes, because of low water temperature on our climate. The quantity of the benthos biomass correlated with the stocking density of the carp. The Oligochaete biomass was always more than that of the Chironomids
