The research of E-2001 (Microorganisms-liquid compost) on lowland rice with direct seeded and no tillage systems using glyphosate herbicide (Polaris 240 AS) was conducted in lowland irrigated with ultisol soil type in Taman Bogo Research Station of 1997/1998 and in dry season of 1998. The experiment used strip plot design, with 3 replications and plot size was 4 m x 5 m. As main plot were two methods of land preparation systems: (a) Full tillage, 2 x plowing and 1 x rotary and flating, (b) No tillage, used 5 l glyphosate 240 (Polaris 240 AS). The subplots were 8 combination of E-2001 biofertilizer with inorganic fertilizer and 2 combination without E-2001 biofertilizer. The E-2001 biofertilizer is a microorganisms-liquid compost, which contains native nitrifying bacteria such as Nitrobacters, Nitrosomonas, Azotobacter and Clostridium, and also contains phosphate protected fungies such as Pseudomonas and Micrococcus, enzymes and growth hormones. Results showed that combination of E-2001 1 1 + 150 kg Urea + 75 kg SP-36 + 50 kg KCl/ha and E-2001 + 2.000 1 Orgami (N-sources) + 50 kg SP-36 + 25 kg KCl/ha on no-tillage plots in Wet Season (WS) yielded high rice yield about 7.143 and 7.053 t/ha dry unhusked rice, respectively. On full-tillage plots (conventional tillage), the high rice yield were obtained from the same treatment about 6.820 and 6.760 t/ha. While, in control plots with fertilizer of 250 kg Urea + 150 kg SP-36 + 100 kg KCl, the rice yield was lower about 5.813 t/ha on no-tillage and 5.300 t/ha on full-tillage. In dry season (DS), the combination of E-2001 1 1 + 150 kg Urea + 75 kg RP (rock phosphate) + 50 kg KCl/ha and E-2001 1 1 + 100 kg Urea + 50 kg RP + 25 kg KCl/ha or E-2001 1 1 + 2.000 1 Orgami + 50 kg SP-36 + 25 kg KCl/ha yielded high rice yield of 4.766, 4.545 and 4.528 t/ha on no-tillage, and about 4.668, 4.468 and 4.737 t/ha on full-tillage, respectivelly. While, in control plots, the rice yield were lower, about 4.113 t/ha on Full tillage and 3.123 t/ha on no-tillage. Based on the results, we concluded that biofertilizer E-2001 could increase the efficiency of fertilizer by 50 percent. The biofertilizer E-2001 tended more effective on no-tillage plots. In wet season, the combination of fertilizer with E-2001 increased rice yield on no-tillage plots. In wet season, the combination of fertilizer with E-2001 increased rice yield on no-tillage plots by 28.7-40.9 percent and on full tillage about 27.5-38.6 percent. While, in dry season from the rice yield increased about 13.5-15.9 percent; 8.6-10.5 percent and 10.1-15.2 percent by fertilization of E-2001 1 1 + 150 kg Urea + 75 RP + 50 kg KCl/ha and E 2001 11 + 100 kg urea + 50 Rp + 25 kg KCl/ha or 2.001 1 1 + 2.000 1 Orgami + 50 kg SP-36 + 25 kg KCl/ha respectively
