1999
Sugiharto, A.N.
The experiments were carried out to study the effect of daylength and temperature on bulb formation in Wakegi onion (Allium x wakegi Araki) and shallot (A. cepa var. ascalonicum Backer). Artificial daylength (8, 12 and 16 hr) and temperature (20 deg., 25 deg. and 30 deg. C) were conducted in phythotron of the Biotron - Kyushu University in 1997. Two accessions of shallot and wakegi onion from Indonesia and two accessions from Japan were used for materials observed. The results showed that all accessions enable to form bulb either under 16-hr or 12-hr daylength. Bulb formation was more promoted in temperature of 20 deg. C than 25 deg. and 30 deg. C
