Soil microbiological tests were carried out over the period 1989-1997 at the Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture in Dotnuva on a cultivated, soddy gleyic podzolized light loamy soil with a low weed incidence. Biological activity of the arable layer, especially the ocurrence of azotobacters linked with the regime of nitrogen, and that of mineral nitrogen assimilating bacteria and the activity urease, as well as mineralisation coefficient was slightly higher in the soil stubble-broken by mouldboard stubble-breaker that in the stubble-broken and disked soil
