Topographic map (M 1:10,000) and urban topographic maps are opening up new opportunities

At the begining of the year the State Land Service held an international seminar to present new cartographic technologies and software products. The Russian "Fotomood" and the Ukraine "Delta" software products were demonstrated. The regional offices of the SLS will begin the development of urban topographic maps of Latvia on the 1:2,000 scale. Before these maps are developed, new staff members will be engaged and trained. In accordance with the plan approved in 1999, topographic maps of scale 1:10,000 will be produced. Topographic maps of this scale covering the area of Riga and several other cities and towns of Latvia will be published next year.
