2000
Hussain, F. (Livestock Dept., Dera Bughti (Pakistan))
The present study showed that Talster (Bifenthrim) 100 g/1 EC. produced a significant dose dependent depression in growth rate, weight gain, dressed weight, weight of liver, bursal weight, splenic weight and thymic weight. Significant reduction was recorded in live body weight, dressed weight, weight of liver, bursal weight, splenic weight and thymic weight when chickens were fed on Talster mixed feed at 70 mg/Kg body weight. At this dose the mean live body weight was 860 plus minus 14.14(SE), mean dressed weight was 515 plus minus 15.00(SE), mean weight of liver was 30.56 plus minus (SE), mean bursal weight was 1.66 plus minus (SE), mean splenic weight was 1.52 plus minus 0.095(SE) and mean thymic weight was 6.15 plus minus 0.301(SE). The chickens fed on normal feed (Control group), their mean live body weight, mean dressed weight, mean weight of liver, mean bursal weight, mean splenic weight and mean thymic weight was 1907 plus minus 25.23(SE), 1144 plus minus 15.01(SE), 32.40 plus minus 1.40(SE), 1.95 plus minus 0.25(SE), 1.87 plus minus 0.128(SE), and 7.16 plus minus 0.105(SE), respectively. It shows that Talster has a vital side effects on chickens if they fed on the feed contaminated with insecticide or obtained from crops with insecticide residues.
