The effect of administering varying dosages of oxytocin at the time of artificial insemination (AI) on the conception rate was studied using 60 dairy cows/heifers which were randomly distributed to four treatment groups. Treatment 3 animal which received 3 ml or 60 I.U. oxytocin gave the best result at 1.4 services per conception. This was followed by treatment 2 (40 I.U. oxytocin) at 1.6 services. Treatment 1 animals (20 I.U. oxytocin) conceived with an average 2.8 services per conception while treatment 4 (control) had the highest number of services per conception at 3.0 services. The result shows that administration of supplemental oxytocin at the time of artificial insemination improves the conception rate of dairy cattle
