Garlic is an important dry season crop usually planted after rice. It is a vegetatively-reproduced crop using cloves as planting material. Farmers save the seed from their previous crop and use these for planting their succeeding crop. The problem with this practice is the possibility of transmitting seed-borne viruses which may adversely affect the yield. Tissue culture is a technique of producing virus-free garlic planting materials. It is therefore the concern of this research to determine the appropriate media requirement for shoot multiplication and bulbing of Tan Bolters and Mindoro 1 garlic cultivars. Among the three media evaluated, MS+ IAA + 2ip produced the longest shoot and highest number of shoots. On the other hand, the specific bulbing media for Mindoro 1 cultivar is MS + 12% sucrose.
