Field studies were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of some insecticides i.e. Systoate 40 EC, Confidor 200 SL, Tamaron 600 SL and Thiodan 35 EC by foliar application on tobacco with knapsack sprayer at an interval of 30 days. The effectiveness of insecticides for the control of aphids was based on the number of aphids per leaf in each treatment plot, at weekly intervals. All the insecticides were significantly better than the untreated check where the maximum aphid population (67.56 aphids/leaf) was observed, however, Tamaron was the most effective with 10.96 aphids per leaf. All the insecticides differed significantly from one another regarding the tobacco yield. Tamaron produced the maximum yield of tobacco cured leaf (9.25 kg/plot) and it was significant from all other insecticides followed by Confidor, Systoate and Thiodan. However, all the insecticides produced significantly higher yield of cured tobacco leaf as compared to untreated plots (5.68 Kg/plot).
