[Effect of nitrogen and potassium fertilisation on olive maturation: preliminary results]

In this paper we studied the effect of nitrogen and potassium fertilization when applied in the cultivar 'Carrasquenha'. Four samples had been collected along fruit maturation at 1998/1999. Fruit characteristics such as removal force, dry weight, maturation index, moisture and oil content has been evaluated. During ripening period we observe an increase in the values of maturation index and oil content whereas removal force, dry weight and moisture content decreases. For the fertilization without potassium we observed a reduction in the fruit removal force as well as in the oil content. On the other hand, the fertilization without nitrogen drive us to a smaller values in what concerns the moisture content in the fruits. The other characteristics seems not to be affected by the fertilization treatments. Finnally, we have comment the posibility to antecipate the harvest date
