An influence of the geographical position on vegetation structure in the settlements of rural type

There are more factors affecting green spaces, both their quality and quantity, in rural-type settlements. In addition to the social arrangement of a settlement, the economic structure and the orientation of population, a layout of green spaces is influenced by th geographical position and a gradient of the land. The field investigation of the settlements of Voderady, Vesele (plain), Horne Oresany, Dolna Krupa (hilly country), Smolenice, and Chtelnica (highlands) [south Slovakia] has confirmed the hypothesis that in the private grounds situated in mountaineous country and highlands are more trees, as compared to those located on a plain. A gradient of the land has an effect on th spatial arrangement of green areas in the land but it does not influence significantly their quantity
