2001
Pham Ngoc Thuong
Findings of a study on the soil under forests restored after slash and burn cultivation were presented. The study was carried out in Thainguyen and Backan provinces, where traditional shifting cultivation is still remained among some ethnic groups. The study results showed that the land fallow left for 1-17 years the humus, total N and K content is increased, but the soil is still acid, so there are only the micro organismes adaptable to acid conditions. It is interesting that the such indices obtained from analysis of soil of surface layer are better, demons trating the positive role in soil improvement of restored vegetation cover.
