With the estimated number of 25 000 000 trees "Pozegaca" is still the most important plum cultivar in Serbia (Yugoslavia). The fruit has a very high quality but it is very small with the average weight of 16 - 18 g. Clonal selection, carried out in the area of Valjevo, Topola and Sabac, for the last 15 years, resulted in selecting several clones that exceeded standard "Pozegaca" in various features. The clone named "Jadranka" has heavy cropping. The fruit has 61% higher weight but slightly lower content of soluble solids and sugars than the standard "Pozegaca". "Jadranka" is micropropagated and worked on the succkers of the standard "Pozegaca" and the application submitted to the Yugoslav Federal Commission for the cultivars release. The procedure is in the final stage.
