Plum processing optimization model

The paper shows main elements highlighting the importance of plum processing for the economy of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (number of companies, number of workers and rate of use of the designed and technical and technological capacities for fruit processing and production of beverages). The method of linear programming applied on a model of a fruit processing company has been used to establish optimum programs for the production of plum products or those products in which plum is in competition with other fruits. The quality of this solution was tested through a post-optimum analysis, and the results of this research indicate the possibility to improve financial indices subject to modifying the structure of plum products.
