The objective of this paper is to get an analysis of the production and application of the essential oils from the domestic (Yugoslav) medicinal plants. The different methods to extract the essential oils from plant material, as like the steam distillation, cold pressing, solvent extraction and hyperbaric production are compared. The application of the essential oils in aromatherapy, medicine, cosmetic and food industry is analysed. The new equipment for the steam distillation of the essential oils from the medicinal plants is presented.
