The control and possibility of reduction of periods from first to successfull insemination in Holstein-Friesian cows, by means of ultrasonography
2001
Ivkov, V.
The research was conducted on 3 Holstein-Friesian dairy farms (totally 762 females which were first time after calving inseminated in the year of research). Pregnancy rate after 1st artificial insemination after calving was 24.4% (186/762). During the period from the first to successful insemination in remnant cows, recycling appeared after 65.2% (972/1490) ineffectual inseminations, but estrus was not detected after 34.8% (518/1490) unsuccessful artificial insemination. The result of inseminations of cows indicated on need to use the early infertility diagnostics. With aim to inseminate as soon as possible non pregnant and not recycling cows, or ultrasonography (5 MHz, 30-44th day) or usual, transrectal palpation (after the 45th day) was performed. According to infertility diagnosis, non pregnant cows were adequately treated before next insemination. By use of early, ultrasonic infertility diagnosis in cows, and after application of adequate treatment, the important reduction of interinsemination periods was achieved, in comparison with palpatory program. Estrus expression, nor pregnancy rate after insemination were not emphasized, in group of untrasonically examined cows in comparison to group of palpated females. By means of ultrasonic reduction of interinsemination periods, ows were inseminated earlier than regular cycling females in period of 36-48th days, and also, before they could be palpated for pregnancy.
