Three remarkable bryophyte species were discovered in a calcareous ravine near Machtum (Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, Moselle valley): Scapania cuspiduligera (Nees) Muell. Frib. (Hepaticae), Platydictya jungermannioides (Brid.) Crum and Schistidium robustum (Nees and Hornsch.) Blom (Musci). The first and (probably) the third species are new not only to Luxembourg, but also to the Benelux countries. A list of some other remarkable bryophytes found at this site is commented; the site is briefly evaluated for bryophyte conservation purposes.
