Influence of different energy levels of compound feeds on the growth rate and the beginning of the puberity in gilts

A production trial with 44 gilts from the Danube White breed was carried out. The animals were allocated into 2 equal groups. The experiment started when the gilts reached 31.5 kg live weight and finished at the second oestrus. The animals from the control and the experimental groups were fed compound feed with same content of protein and lysine and different content of energy. It was established that the increase in the metabolizable energy in the compound feeds from 11.56 to 13.01 and from 11.82 to 13.34 MJ/kg during the two growing subperiods did not significantly influence the age and the live weight at first and second oestrus in the animals.
