[Contamination of feeds and feed raw materials by Fusarium toxins]
2002
Honzlova, A. | Zamek, L. (Statni Veterinarni Ustav, Jihlava (Czech Republic))
Since 1999, the occurrence of Fusarium toxins, mainly deoxynivalenol (DON), zearalenone, fumonisins, and T-2 toxin, in different compound feeds, cereals, haylages, and silages has been monitored by the National Veterinary Institute, Jihlava, Czech Republic. The four types of mycotoxins are detected by ELISA, liquid chromatography being also used for the confirmation of DON and zearalenone results. The highest occurrence of studied mycotoxins was found in 2001 and in the first quarter of 2002. The maximum standards for mycotoxins residues recommended by the Food and Drug Administration were exceeded in several cases. High concentrations of DON were found especially in wheat and maize, and in compound feeds for swine, while the maximum standards for zearalenone were exceeded in wheat, maize, haylage, and maize silages.
