The analysis of dam pig populations evaluated by M BLUP-AM method in Slovakia

Genetic values of both the individual mother breeds and swine genetic lines were assessed on the basis of the overall breeding values in order to point out the best genetic lines in Slovakia. Genetic lines of Large White (675 boar lines), White Meat (243 boar lines) and Landrace (309 boar lines) breeds were evaluated by M BLUP-AM method in a seven-day interval from January 2000 to January 2001. The best lines and overall breeding values were as follows: Large White breed: ASIAT - 644.1, PINTO - 565.1, KINGOVID - 550.1; White Meat breed: DON - 817.6, ROSTAD - 817.1, SOCRAT 728.9; Landrace breed: DENISO - 526.1, FLOPPY - 503.5, DON - 437.7. As shown by our results the use of M BLUP-AM method improves the accuracy in genetic value estimation of individual pigs as well as breeds.
