A number of tef-production technologies that included improved varieties and agronomic practices have been disseminated to farmers across the different tef growing agro-ecologies of Ethiopia. Among the many improved varieties, DZ-01-354, DZ-Cr-37 and DZ-01-196 are the most widely adopted by farmers. These varieties along with agronomic packages were transferred to the farming community, based on the recommendation domains, after validation of their economic and social acceptance by the farmers themselves. In some parts of the country, adoption of the varieties has been increasing and the technologies have been highly appreciated by farmers. In many other areas, however, there still remains much to be done. Lack of improved seed and availability of fertilizer have been the major constraints for wider adoption of the improved technologies by smalllholer tef growing farmers. Wide-scale systematic studies on adoption rate and impact assessment need to be conducted in the future.
