The effect of plant density and tillage practices to the growth and yield of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata, Sturt.)

إنجليزي. Plant density has a highly significant (P less than 0.01) on the marketable of fresh weight yield and oven dry weight of cob yield per hectare. The highest yield obtained from the plant spacing of 30 cm x 50 cm was as high as 12.8 tonnes and 2.3 tonnes respectively. The regression analysis on plant spacing against marketable oven dry weight of cob per hectare showed the quadratic relationship with the equation: Y = 1,2287 + 0,0357 S - 0,000368 S quadrate with plant density of 68,728 plants per hectare, and maximum marketable oven dry weight cob of 2.09 tonnes per hectare. The treatment of soil tillage frequencies has no significant effect (P more than 0.05) on fresh weight and oven dry weight of marketable cob per hectare. However, there is a tendency that the highest marketable fresh weight and oven dry weight of cob per hectare were obtained from the twice soil tillages i.e. 9.8 tonnes and 1.8 tonnes respectively, and the lowest yield was obtained from the treatment of non soil tillage ie. 9.5 tonnes and 1.7 tonnes per hectare respectively

الأندونيسية. Kerapatan tanaman berpengaruh sangat nyata (P lebih besar dari 0.01) terhadap berat basah dan berat kering oven tongkol yang dapat dipasarkan per hektar. Hasil tertinggi diperoleh pada jarak tanam 30 cm x 50 cm yaitu berturut-turut sebesar 12,8 ton dan 2,3 ton. Hasil regresi menunjukkan hubungan kuadratik antara jarak tanam dengan berat kering oven tongkol dapat dipasarkan per hektar, dengan persamaan garis : Y = 1,2287 + 0,0357 S - 0,000368 S kuadrat dengan jumlah tanaman 68.728 pohon per hektar, dan berat kering oven tongkol dapat dipasarkan 2,09 ton per hektar. Perlakuan pengolahan tanah tidak berpengaruh nyata (P lebih besar dari 0.05) terhadap berat basah dan berat kering oven tongkol dapat dipasarkan per hektar. Namun ada kecenderungan bahwa berat basah dan berat kering oven tongkol dapat dipasarkan per hektar tertinggi diperoleh pada pengolahan tanah dua kali yaitu 9,8 ton dan 1,8 ton, dan hasil terendah diperoleh pada perlakuan tanpa pengolahan tanah yaitu berturut-turut 9,5 ton dan 1,7 ton per hektar
