Effect of ripeness and wilting treatment on the yield and characteristic of anise oil

إنجليزي. Clausena oil is widely used in food, beverage and medicinal industries. The oil is produced by distillation of the leaves of Clausena anisata. The aim of this experiment was to study the effect of ripeness and wilting treatment of clausena leaf on the yield and characteristic of quality of the oil produced. The experiment was arranged using a Split Plot Design with four replications. The main plots are condition of leaf namely fresh and witted leaves and the sub plots are the ripeness of leaves including young leaves, half-ripe and ripe leaves. The observation included the oil yield, chemical component and physico-chemical properties of the oil. The result showed that the interaction of ripeness and wilting of leaves clearly influenced the oil yield, B-caryophyllene and eugenol content. The highest B-caryophyllene content (O.51 percent) was obtained from the fresh young leaves and the highest eugenol content (1.49 percent) was obtained from the witted ripe leaves. Physico-chemical properties were not influenced by the ripeness and wilting treatment

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh tingkat ketuaan dan pelayuan daun klausena terhadap rendemen dan karakteristik mutu minyaknya. Percobaan dirancang secara petak terpisah, dengan petak utama kondisi daun, yaitu daun segar dan daun dilayukan. Anak petak adalah tingkat ketuaan daun terdiri atas daun muda, daun setengah tua, dan daun tua. Percobaan dilakukan dengan empat kali ulangan. Parameter yang diamati meliputi: rendemen minyak, komponen kimia minyak, dan sifat fisiko-kimia minyak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, bahwa interaksi antara tingkat ketuaan dan pelayuan daun menunjukkan perbedaan nyata terhadap rendemen minyak, kadar B-karyofilen, dan kadar eugenol. Rendemen minyak tertinggi (2.97 persen) diperoleh pada daun setengah tua yang dilayukan. Kadar 3-karyofilen tertinggi (0.51 pesen) pada daun muda segar sedangkan kadar eugenol tertinggi (1.49 persen) pada daun tua dilayukan.
