[Stresses in wood in cases of limited moisture deformations]

The article explains how to determine stress in wood-based materials, that appears in limited swelling deformation across fibres. This method is based on the assumption, that the stress of limited swelling deformation is equal to the stress of pressing till the initial size with the speed equal to the wood swelling speed. The results of experiments were utilized to test the suitability of hypothesis. The sigma-epsilon curves of birch (Betula verrucosa) were obtained (under different moisture content conditions). The method is suitable for determination stresses during full and partial limited deformations in moistured wood.
