The success of using the non-chemical method, TBS [Trap Barrier System], in reducing rat damage in rice field was evaluated in Bual Sur, Midsayap, Cotabato [Philippines]. TBS is a component of the areawide rodent management on rice. Findings showed that a total of 136 rots were caught by TBS in the dry season while 101 rats were caught during the wet season. High rat damage on rice in the neighboring field during mid-tillering ranged from 0.5 to 12.00% while 41.42% was recorded during maturity stage. In both seasons, more females (153) were caught than males (84). Most female rats caught were pregnant. Rat damage was higher in fields without TBS in both seasons
