Comparative efficacy of different aphicides against mustard aphid, Lipaphis erysimi attacking winter brassica crop
2002
Basit, M.
The main aim of present research investigations was to determine the efficacy of some insecticides against mustard aphid. The insecticides used include, Advantage 20EC @ 500 ml/acre, Confidor 200SL. @ 250 ml/acre, Polo 500EC @ 250 ml/acre and Larsban 40EC @ 1000 in ml/acre. The trial was laid out at Ayub Agricultural Research Institute, Faisalabad in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RBCD). There were 5 treatments including a control having three repeats each. The crop was brought in contact with insecticides in the two installments with fortnight interval between them. The data were recorded before 24 hours of spray and then after 24, 48 , 72 hours and one week after the spray. The data thus obtained were finally presented in the form of mean values separately for each repeat and treatment: The data were analyzed statistically by following the Duncan's Multiple Range Test (Duncan, 1955). On the basis of results discussed above, it was conducted that all the insecticides viz Advantage 20EC (carbosulfan) @ 500 ml/acre, Confidor 200SL (imidacloprid) @ 250 ml/acre, polo 500EC (diafenthuron) @ 250 ml/acre and Larsban 40EC (chlorpyrifos) @ 1000 ml/acre gave satisfactory results as to the check. But on numerical basis, highest population suppression was found with the application of Confidor (imidacloprid) @ 250 ml/acre while the lowest population suppression was found with Larsban 40EC (chlorpyrifos) @ 1000 ml/acre. Thus among these treatments, Confidor was found to be the most effective for the control of Mustard aphid (Lipaphis erysimi).
