The study was conducted on social network of local leaders and its impact on socio-economic development of rural communities of Taluka, Hyderabad during 1997-98. The study revealed that the local leaders of selected villages were working hard to develop socio-economic conditions of the people except few leaders. Majority of leaders was educated up to secondary level. Peoples economy depend on agriculture and light handicrafts. However industry like cotton ginning and sugar mill was available in the study area. The main crops cultivated were wheat, cotton and sugarcane. Majority of local leaders was 25 to 35 years of age and few of them were living in cities. The land holding of leaders were from 10-51 hectares. Eight indicators were developed for this research study and they were categorized in three forms so as to analysis the data. The data revealed that in first category type marketing in livestock received highest rating. In second category of indicators, it was found that every leader made some efforts to have school in their village to educate children and socio-economic development. In third category of indicators, it was learnt that majority of leaders were able to eliminate some traditional ill values.
